Save Money on cell phone

  • To avoid long voice chatting with someone
  • Use free voice messaging service that connects you directly to someone’s mobile phone voicemail.
Dial 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone.

  • Free Directory Assistance
  • Use 800-FREE-411 to get numbers without the normal charge or dial 800-555-TELL and get weather, sports scores, stock quotes and more.

If you’d rather not use your plan’s minutes, send a text message to GOOGL (46645) with a search query, like “Pizza, Times Square” or “Weather 08844″ and you’ll get a free text message right back from the search company.

  • Free Voice Directory Assistance
  • 1-800-555-TELL: Much like the Google service, except it’s with voice not text. Call the number and you’ll be walked through menus from which you can access sports scores, business listings, stock quotes and more.

  • Skip voicemail greetings
  • To leave voice message you have to sit through a long personal or automated greeting, or worse, both, and it eats up your time and minutes. Depending on the carrier, keypad buttons like 7, 1, and * can sometimes get you right to the beep (check each provider’s Web site for specific instructions).

  • Get to an operator immediately.
  • We’ve all been there – whether it’s tech support or customer service, sometimes it takes forever to speak with a human. To save some minutes and frustration, visit GetHuman.com for instructions to bypass menus for dozens of company phone lines. If that doesn’t work, some voice recognition interfaces direct you through if you curse at the prompts.

Call 112: Emergency dialing, even if your phone is out of service range or the keypad is locked.
